When we think about charity, the definition that usually comes to mind is to help those in need, but I think the biggest beneficiaries in the act of charity are people who are doing the giving rather than receiving.

People who are giving could get so much out of the experience! They could set up different fun activities and fundraisers, they could make cool flyers and bulletins to make themselves be heard, and then finally donate the much or little funds they have collected to those they wanted to help in the first place.

So whether you are looking to help build a school library, improving the meals at a school canteen, or any other goal you are trying to accomplish. I think the ultimate harvest is to see the joyful reactions from the beneficiaries resulted from all the hard work you have put into it.

Last winter, I participated in a charity event where I collected and sold garbage to buy masks for those who couldn’t afford to get them.

I felt I had gained a lot of joy from this activity, especially the moment we handed over the masks to the needy people. The joy and appreciation I saw on their faces will forever be remembered in my heart.

I think the right attitude to do charity is to stay innocent, innovative, and caring. We  need to do charity with a charitable heart, we need to remove any selfishness and indifference we may have and simply focus on the tasks at hand. By this I mean, we really need to have belief and passion in what we are doing, while having the understanding that there are things out there that far outweighs monetary gain.

Once we are able to wrap our heads around this concept, would be the time a charity would be able to run on it’s fullest!
