We started our business with the idea of creating and publishing Children’s Picture books, as a way to give back to society in an attempt to make our world a better place, especially for underprivileged children in need. We have been cooperating with different young authors and illustrators around the world to create picture books of the highest quality. As you may or may not know, the majority of books we publish are usually 20-30 pages accompanying beautiful illustrations on every page.
That was until we received a 6000-word long sci-fi story from a young philanthropist. We were hesitant at first thinking it wasn’t the type of book we are custom to make. Fortunately, we took our time reading through it and found it to be an absolutely remarkable story.
To make this possible, we contacted Haritha Siriwadhana, an extremely experienced illustrator from Sri Lanka. Haritha is known to produce high-quality work while requiring a longer time frame to complete them. Knowing the long hours of proofreading and editing required for this book, we knew Haritha would be the perfect fit!
Now, after nearly 3 months of combined effort, we have finally brought this 70+ page novella with beautiful illustrations to life! The story not only consists of struggles teenagers may go through in school, wormhole, and time travel, but also about family, friendship, and love. I’m going to stop myself here before giving away too much of the story, and leave you with the preface of this book below:
In the fall of 2022, I had the urge to write a book. I had read and seen many science fiction novels and movies and felt like writing one myself. I started brainstorming and wrote down all the inspirations and ideas I had experienced in my life.
Being an eleventh grader at an international school was pretty stressful. I had to quickly get used to my new teachers and my new environment and try to find my way around and perform well. It all started with me wanting to keep a journal to relieve stress. There was a Halloween party at my school in October, so I wrote about that, and I had nervous breakdowns about things that had happened to me at school that I wrote about, as well as arguments with my parents.
When I was reading through my journal not too long ago, an interesting idea came to me. So, with a little creativity, I pulled out all the important elements from my journal and created this book that you have in front of you today.
In short, this book is based on things I experienced this semester and a glimpse into my life growing up. I hope the book makes you smile, makes you cringe, or even makes you nervous at times — whatever that feeling may be…
